Final Essay

Today South Central is a diverse community. It is a community in which many people interact with each other. South Central is also a fun place to live in. Many people hang out together and go to parties. It also has many schools who care about the students. In addition, South Central has many little stores so you can buy things. The three most important events that have had the greatest impact on making South Central, LA what it is today are the LA Riots, the Crack Epidemic, and Immigration.

The first event that made South Central what it is today is the LA Riots. The LA Riots was cause due to four officers who were found “not guilty” for the brutal beating of Rodney King. It was said that Rodney was speeding on the freeway so they pulled him over. Next thing you know they started to beat him senselessly. It caused a great controversy among citizens when the officers were not convicted. They found it preposterous and they decided to do something about it, especially since the beating of Rodney King was caught on tape.

The second event that made South Central what it is today is the Crack Epidemic. It all started in the 1980’s when drugs were brought to South Central. Then it started spreading to the rest of the country. That led to many people becoming addicted to it and it also increased crime rates. It originally started when the government sold crack to ghettos in the US and from that money they would buy weapons to use in war. This caused some people to grow up without one or both parents.

The third event that made South Central what it is today is Immigration. Immigration is when someone leaves from one country to another. It is important because it is what helps the community become diverse. Many people move from their country to come to the US. Every one comes for various reasons. Sometimes people may come to escape a war or any other problem. Others come hoping for a better future.

The LA Riots were a big controversy among the citizens. The Crack Epidemic made a lot of people more ignorant. Immigration made South Central more diverse. I think that these events are important because they’re what makes South Central what it is today. This will definitely help South Central become better because it will help us learn from our past and let us learn to grow for our future.
